Beachy TV Console

If you read my last post then you know how skeptical I was of adding this to the "another find pile" which happens to be overloading my garage. Well today I did a couple of before and afters. One being this tv console and the second cleaning out the garage. I actually took a before pic of the garage nightmare but for some reason it was just blank when I uploaded it. No big deal but you would have certainly been impressed especially since we had pushing 90 degree temps and a crazy attack of stink bugs. There were droves of them on the garage walls and everything else including me. That is how much I wanted the garage clean and how much I enjoyed working on this piece.

Before
After

I love the inside with the cord and hole. Perfect for hooking up the tv and hiding wires.

Now I have a question, notice how the top is hazy just not uniform. Some ares are shiny and others appear dull. Wish it was the pic but it's not. Anyone know how that happened? BTW, I sprayed this with Heirloom White. And lastly, the drawer is sticking not due to poor rails, they worked great before I painted. The top rim of the drawer is catching on the top surface of the console. Any advice would be so greatly appreciated :)

Wow, this is so cute! I love the color and those doors! As for the sticky drawers, did you get paint on them? Or has it been humid since it's outside? If so, just bring it back in for a bit see if that helps. If not and there is not paint on them then try some candle wax. Just rub on the edges. For the top, did you sand between coats? I wasn't sure how many coats you did. It might just need another good coat in even strokes back and forth. Hope that helps some :)

Looks great!

As for the sticking drawer, you may have to do some serious sanding and repaint the top edge of the drawer. I have a sideboard that was done once and after painting the drawer won't close. Humidity does play a factor too but if it still this summer, it will next summer too.

I think it is just the way spray paint can do. My husband has had that happen on some car parts that he painted. That is why I use brush on paint. Since you asked me, I think that piece would look great glazed. I would get an ivory brush on paint and repaint it first and then sand some edges and glaze.

I agree with Kim, that has happened to me with spray paint before as well. That's why I don't use it anymore, I don't believe it's meant for big jobs like furniture. I can never get it even enough.
It looks cute though! Such a unique piece

Hi Sue, thats a really cute piece. Thats the problem with spray paint. Its not really meant for large jobs. Its too hard to spray it on evenly so some areas get a thicker coat and it looks different. Best to use a can of paint with a small foam roller which gives a good finish.

Thanks for all of the input. In the future I will resist the urge to spray except on smaller pieces! At least, I will try. I am going to go pick up a can of paint and see if that does the trick and sand back the top of the drawer in hopes of unsticking it!
