A Beauty with BIG Veneer Issues

Spied this at the flea market. It was a big hot mess but one of the prettiest nightstands I've come across.

Sad little sight with all the veneer issues but look at those wood carvings. Brought her home with me and I don't have one regret. OK so ripping off the veneer was no fun. Maybe spewed a curse word or two. I used the damp towel and iron method to remove the veneer. Yup, think I might need a new iron.

But isn't she pretty now....

She still has her dings from life and shows her age, but hey don't we all :)

  1. Let me be the first to congratulate you on a job well done. Beautiful, just beautiful. The grey blue paint with white trim brings her beauty
back to life. Question, are you keeping her or selling her. I just refinished a French provincial two tiered round end table with a matching coffee table in a creamy color and lightly distressed them. They sold in three days. Thank you for sharing your lovely lady. Humble Abode

  7. You did a beautiful job!! I have a hutch that has some veneer issues that I need to fix before painting. How did you use your iron to remove the veneer? Thanks, Pam

  10. Oh my, I actually sighed when I saw this. You did an AMAZING job. I had no idea you could peel the veneer off and still have a beautiful piece underneath. Great job giving a poor little piece a new life! Found you over at Redoux.

  12. I am loving seeing your beautiful furniture. this is just stunning. Was the wood very rough under the veneer? did you have to do a lot of sanding? Sure looks as though it was worth the effort.
