Shabby Mosaic Lazy Susan

I am almost finished with this and just wanted to share. Isn't that really what blogging is all about? Sharing our passions and getting inspired. For me, that is what it's all about. So, I found this not so pretty looking lazy susan which had these great curvy glass holders that were perfect for serving snacks. The minute I saw it i just knew it had BIG "please mosaic me" potential.

I painted it my favorite ballet pink and gave it a shabby mosaic makeover. Not completely finished yet, got a little side tracked watching the Emmy's. How does that happen? I next to never watch tv...time waster when there is so much more that I'd rather be doing. I should have been grouting but no, got sucked into the pre Emmy interviews and next thing ya know... there's always tomorrow! Here it is with the design laid out and then taped off to grout. Well at least I taped it off and took some pics and even blogged about it. I am not a complete slacker. Doesn't it look so much prettier already?

It is beautiful! What a great idea! I don't think I have ever seen a lazy susan like that, but I am sure it is happy to have a new life! I am always looking for things to mosaic. If you feel comfortable sharing I would like to know where you get your stained glass tiles, I have always ordered them on line, but was thinking about going to some local stained glass shops and getting sheets, but I am not sure i can cut perfect squares. I would love your in put! Thank you.

Hi Carol,

Would love to share. I order online too but also buy sheets of glass from the local stained glass store for filling in. I have cut squares too but they are not as perfect as the "machine" cut ones I buy online. They really don't need to be perfect after all it's mosaics! It really isn't hard to do. You just need a wheeled glass cutter and pliers meant for use with stained glass...not sure what they are called though. Oh and of course a ruler. I used to do stained glass a long time ago so I had all the supplies for mosaics when I changed paths. Hope that helps!
